About Primal Pottery
Welcome to the studio
Kate is a potter working with Earthenware clay. From her studio she creates handcrafted ceramics inspired by the beauty of simple natural forms.
Before dedicating herself fully to ceramics, Kate worked as a secondary teacher, a background that continues to shape her thoughtful and encouraging approach to teaching.
Alongside her own practice, she runs daily pottery workshops from her own studio located at the Weyhill Fairgrounds, welcoming people of all abilities to explore clay through creativity, patience and process.
"Working with clay is the perfect stress relief, because it can be quite a slow process, it forces me to slow down and focus on one thing - the making. Working with clay is very therapeutic and you don't need to be an amazing artist to make something really good".
Primal Pottery Studio is situated at the Fairground Craft & Design Centre in Weyhill, The centre is steeped in history, and amoung other things, it was once one of the largest sheep fairs in the country. Because of their age, the studios are rustic and quirky. There is also a cafe, book shop and many other shops and studios, which also run classes and workshops.
